Sofya Gulyak’s winning list of international competitions is long, but it is her triumph at the Leeds International Competition 2009, being the first female winner ever in the competition’s history, which raised her prominence in the classical music world. Since then she has appeared all over the globe, performing solos in recitals and collaborating with world-class orchestras and conductors. Out of her endless repertoire, the programme she has chosen for us includes grand works by Bach-Busoni, a beautiful but rarely-heard piece by Franck, irresistibly charming pieces by Chopin and a masterful Hungarian Rhapsody by Liszt. It will be a truly unique experience.
