What a Rachmaninov player! He had obviously learned, practiced, and nurtured this Rachmaninov Sonata No. 2, and what a pleasure to listen to someone performing this piece so confidently and gorgeously right in front of us! Masayuki is a 'cool' pianist with a 'cool' manner and attitude towards performing his music.
He sits upright and has almost no swinging movements of self-indulgence when he plays, yet what colourful, diverse and passionate music he produces! I really like his style, and many people must agree with me! He wowed all our guests, which is why he is returning next June again. Off the record, he was going to play one of Chopin's nocturns for an encore, but I begged him to play another Rachmaninov piece. It went down well, don't you think?
