Our events began in the spring of 2009 as small musical gatherings in a private home, with an audience of family, friends and neighbours. Word soon spread beyond our circle. Today our recitals draw music lovers not only from Woking and the surrounding area but from across the UK – and the musicians who play for us have appeared at the Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms and concert stages around the world.
Our season runs from early autumn to early summer, with ten to twelve, or more, recitals a year – plus the occasional surprise one-off concert, which our members have learned to snap up quickly. Newcomers are as welcome as long-standing members: if you are simply curious about classical music, this is a lovely place to start.
An evening at Breinton is more than the music. There are drinks and light refreshments at the interval, conversation with fellow guests, and the chance to meet the musicians after the performance. Our recital room seats you so close to the performers that you can see every finger movement, every breath, every expression – and the musicians tell us they love playing here for exactly that reason.

Breinton Recital Society is a registered charity (number 1151972), governed by a Constitution, with Officers and a Committee elected annually by the members. We are a member of Making Music – the national federation of music societies – which advised us on our structure and Constitution and supports our work with insurance cover and a network for engaging performers.
