Sara Hill performs at Breinton in our Local Young Performers' Soiree on 24 January 2015.

Sara Hill is a young soprano from Knaphill in Woking. She is a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and Surrey Youth Choir.

Most recently with  NYCGB she has performed the War Requiem by Benjamin Britten at the Royal Festival Hall under the baton of Marin Alsop, the Monteverdi Vespers in the Royal Albert Hall and a concert at Birmingham Town Hall in which the programme ranged from Mendelssohn to Earth Wind and Fire!

With Surrey Youth Choir in conjunction with the BBC Singers she took part in a performance of  the Opera "King Arthur" by Purcell in which she performed several notable solos.

In 2013 Sara won an award from The Woking Young Musicians Trust and the Lorna Patterson Award for Special Achievement in Music from Woking High School.  She was invited by the Mayor to sing at an end of year Civic reception where she performed Handel's "Let The Bright Seraphim" from the oratorio Sampson.

Sara is currently a music scholar at St Georges College Weybridge where she is studying Music, French, Spanish and Italian at A Level. She studies singing at the Royal College of Music with Justin Lavender.

Christopher Brewster performs at Breinton in our Local Young Performers' Soiree on 24 January 2015.

Chris is joint first study trombone and euphonium studying at Junior Guildhall School of Music and holding the Trombone and Euphonium Scholarships. He is principal euphonium in their brass band and principal trombone in the Symphony Orchestra and in the Ten Piece Brass Group. Performances have also included chamber music groups opening the Barbican's Milton Court Concert Hall and in the House of Lords.

Chris is previously principal player in Surrey County Youth Wind Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and Advanced Brass Group. He was in the National Children's Orchestra of GB and has just been awarded a place for the fourth consecutive year in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, playing many times with them in all the major concert halls and in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

Other performance highlights include playing on the Mayor's Barge for the Queen's Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames and with  a reduced NYO at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Coronation Gala concert.

Chris is a recent winner of the Windsor and Maidenhead Symphony Orchestra competition and has previously won a Woking Young Musician's Trust Award and the Una Clarke Young Artist competition.

Aspiring to be a professional trombonist and euphonium player, Chris has gained an ATCL diploma with a high distinction and is currently a 1st year music scholar at Farnborough 6th Form College.

Laura MacDonald performs at Breinton in our Local Young Performers' Soiree on 24 January 2015.

Laura lives in Woking and is a music scholar at Guildford High School. She is 17 and attends the Royal College of Music Junior Department where she studies cello with Michal Kaznowski. Laura has played in local music festivals and concerts from the age of 7. She was awarded second prize in the 2013 Woking Young Musician competition and was Godalming Young Musician in 2012. She won an award with the Woking Young Musician’s Trust the same year. Laura has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years, and is a former member of the National Children’s Orchestras and Surrey County Youth Orchestra. She is also a keen chamber musician and attends Pro Corda, the International Chamber Music Academy. With friends she formed a string trio, Vavello, and they perform as much as possible. In 2014 Laura was a finalist in the Gordon Turner Memorial Competition at the Royal College of Music and in 2013 a finalist in the Marjorie Humby Memorial Competition. Laura’s future engagements include playing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations with the Woking Symphony Orchestra in the early part of 2015.

Ivana Gavrić performs at Breinton with Anthony Hewitt on 28 February 2015.

British pianist Ivana Gavric created a sensation with her debut disc In the mists, winning BBC Music Magazine Newcomer of the Year 2011 for ‘playing of an altogether extraordinary calibre’. Her recent third disc of works by Grieg, also on Champs Hill Records, was selected as Editor’s Choice in Gramophone and noted for ‘an electrifying performance’ (BBC Music Magazine). The Grieg Society has voted the CD as its ‘Recording of the Year’.

This season, Ivana has made debuts with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic with Rafael Payare, as well as with the Grammy-nominated Trondheim Soloists. Previously, she has performed with the Aurora Orchestra, and collaborated with conductors including Ben Gernon, Nicholas Collon and Christian Kluxen. Named Gramophone’s ‘One to Watch’ and BBC Music Magazine’s ‘Rising Star’, Ivana has been heard on the major concert platforms in the UK including The Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall, as well as across Europe, in Canada, Japan and Russia. Following her US debut in October, the Washington Post described Ivana’s playing as ‘impressive, insightful… a ravishing performance’. Attracting considerable praise for her interpretations of Janacek’s music in particular, Ivana has curated festivals dedicated to the composer’s solo and chamber works.



Also a dedicated chamber musician, Ivana performed with violinist Maxim Vengerov in 2007 as part of Live Music Now, the outreach scheme established by the late Lord Menuhin.
 She has partnered colleagues on the concert platform in festivals in the UK and Europe, taken part in the IMS Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music Sessions and is an alumna of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme. Outside the concert hall she is featured playing Chopin and Beethoven in BBC2’s adaptation of The Line of Beauty, and Bach in Anthony Minghella’s film Breaking and Entering.



Born into a musical family in Sarajevo, Ivana was initially taught by her mother. Following her move to the UK, she studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department, University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Music. Her teachers include Niel Immelman, Peter Bithell and James Gibb. Additionally, Ivana has had the opportunity to study with esteemed musicians such as Menahem Pressler, Ferenc Rados, Dmitry Bashkirov, Boris Berman, Stephen Kovacevich and Leif Ove Andsnes.



Forthcoming highlights include recitals at the KKL Luzern and a return to the Wigmore Hall. Ivana is indebted to the support of many trusts, including the Frankopan Fund (Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts), the MBF, The Solti Foundation, The Nicholas Boas Trust, The Richard Carne Trust and the RVW Trust. Ivana is proud to be an Ambassador for the charity ‘Musicians without Borders’.

Thomas Carroll performs at Breinton with Anthony Hewitt on 25 April 2015.

Born in Swansea, Thomas studied with Melissa Phelps at the Yehudi Menuhin School and with Heinrich Schiff in Austria.  An exceptionally gifted cellist, he is one of only two artists who auditioned successfully for both Young Concert Artists Trust in London and Young Concert Artists, Inc. in New York.  He has since gone on to give critically acclaimed debut recitals at Wigmore Hall (London), Alice Tully Hall (NY) and in Boston, California, Florida and Washington DC.  

As a concerto soloist Thomas has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Mozart Players, ViVA, Orchestra of the East Midlands, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Heinrich Schiff), English Chamber Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic, Sofia Philharmonic, and Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra. 

Much in demand as a chamber musician, Thomas has  worked with the Belcea Quartet, Chilingirian Quartet, Endellion Quartet, Yehudi Menuhin, Ivry Gitlis, Gidon Kremer, Steven Isserlis, Mischa Maisky, Michael Collins, Julian Rachlin at Wigmore Hall, the Edinburgh and Cheltenham International Festivals, among many others.  His recordings include Michael Berkeley’s String Quintet with the Chilingirian Quartet for Chandos.

Recent engagements include concerts at Wigmore Hall, the Louvre in Paris, Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Dubrovnik Festival, Bath MozartFest, Mecklenburg Festival and The International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht with Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin and Ensemble.  Thomas has also given a series of concerts in Tokyo under the auspices of YCA Inc, been resident at the Delft Festival in Holland and appeared as soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (broadcast by BBC Radio 3), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestre Regional de Cannes.  In August 07 he made his debut with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in a series of performances of Shostakovich’s Concerto No.2 and received an immediate reinvitation.  Last season Thomas returned as soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, performed the Dvorák with the Staatsorchester Braumschweiger, Vivaldi Double Concerto with Heinrich Schiff and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and gave recitals at the Cheltenham Festival and in Holland, Ireland, France, Belgium, Russia, Sweden and Japan.  This season sees a continuation of recitals in series and festivals throughout the UK, South Africa and Europe and concerti with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Cape Philharmonic.  2010 will see the release of Thomas and eminent pianist Llyr Williams’ CD of Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms sonatas on the Orchid Label.

Thomas is currently a Professor at the Royal College of Music in London and the Yehudi Menuhin School.

Li-Chun Su performs at Breinton on 16 May 2015.

Li-Chun Su has emerged as one of Germany's most versatile young pianists. She is a soloist, a chamber musician and a fortepianist.  She has been acclaimed as a talented interpreter of a wide-ranging repertoire from Bach to Kurtag.

Ms Su made her Berlin soloist debut in the Grand Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2001.   She has played numerous piano concertos in the Grand Hall and Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall and with the Jena Phiharmonic Orchestra in the Jena Philharmonic Hall, Porto national Orchestra in Casa da Musica. She has performed with  the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra in the Gewandhaus Mendelssohn Hall in Leipzig and with the Berlin University of Arts Symphony Orchestra in Hardenberg Concert Hall.  She appeared at the Bebersee Festival with Markus Groh in 2007. In march 2009 Li-chun has played the burleske concerto of R. Strauss with Taipei Symphony Orchestra in Taipei, conducted by Reinhard Seifried. 

A native of Taiwan, Ms Su received her musical training in Taipei and Berlin. She graduated from the Berlin University of Arts with the Konzertexamen, the highest degree in graduate courses.  She has studied with maestra Mitzi Meyerson, maestro Laszlo Simon, and maestro Martin Hughes. Since 2008 she has studied with maestro Gabor Paska and Fortepiano with Mitzi Meyerson. 

Ms Su took first prizes in the  Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition in 2007 and in the Artur Schnabel Competition in 2007. In 2008 she awarded the first prize in Porto International Piano Competition, portugal.  She has been invited to give recitals and chamber musical concerts across Germany, England, Austria, Belgian and Italy.  

Ms Su is also a highly accomplished fortepianist. She has given several recitals in the Musikinstrumenten Museum Berlin and at the Michael Haydn Musikfestival.   She was honored to play Carl Czerny¡¦s work on Czerny¡¦s own 1834 Boesenderfer which was shipped from Vienna to the International Czerny Congress, 2007 for her to play for the occasion. She has also been privileged to play the Brodmann¡¦s 1810  forepiano once owned by Carl Maria von Weber, and on an 1838 Conrad Graf.

Anthony Hewitt performs at Breinton with Thomas Carroll on 25 April 2015.

Award-winning British pianist Anthony Hewitt enjoys a diverse career as recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician, accompanist, festival director, teacher, educator, and lecturer. 

A highly versatile and engaging artist, his communicative performances have won him critical acclaim worldwide throughout a career which includes engagements with the National Symphony Orchestra and Princeton Symphony Orchestra in the USA, the English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata and Northern Sinfonia in the UK, and the RTE Orchestra in Ireland. 

In the UK he has performed with orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham, given eight recitals at Wigmore Hall, and has appeared as chamber musician at King's Place and Cadogan Hall in London, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and Usher Hall in Edinburgh. Prestigious festivals include Swaledale, Newbury and Prussia Cove in the UK, Kronberg and Mecklenburg in Germany, Stift in Holland, and Bastad in Sweden. 

Anthony trained privately in the Lake District with Patricia Shackleton, at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Seta Tanyel, and was accepted at the Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Leon Fleisher and Claude Franck at the age of 17. 

Anthony's discography includes 'Protégé' (Divine Art Records) - the first coupling on CD of the Liszt and Reubke Sonatas - which was praised in International Record Review as "magisterial", and received a Gramophone recommendation. His debut CD was described by BBC Music Magazine as 'displaying a fine communicative and poetic musicianship'. He has recorded for Naxos with violist Sarah-Jane Bradley, and The Gramophone described the duo's recent performance on a disc of music by British composer Peter Fribbins as 'superb'. Other discs include a live recording from the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. with violinist Tamaki Kawakubo on Japanese label Avex, as well as the pending release with Dimension Trio on the Champs Hill label. 

An avid chamber musician, he is a member of Dimension Trio - winner of the prestigious Parkhouse award - who have received invitations to festivals and to perform with orchestras in the UK and abroad, including the Brighton Philharmonic and Lodz Philharmonic respectively. He performs regularly with distinguished artists such as clarinettist Emma Johnson, cellist Thomas Carroll, and has a two-piano duo with Martin Roscoe, with whom he recently shared a cycle of complete Beethoven Pianos Sonatas. 

Further afield he has toured South America as a soloist and with ‘cellist Johannes Moser, and is a regular visitor to Japan performing with violinist Narimichi Kawabata. In May 2013 he gave the Armenian premiere of the Britten Piano Concerto, and in 2012 his most unique feat was in the guise of the ‘Olympianist’ which saw him cycling the entire length of the UK, 1200 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats followed by a concert at the end of each day. He performed over thirty engagements and raised £13,000 for charity. Anthony's special-edition CD 'Piano Odyssey' was broadcast several times on Classic FM, and he also appeared twice on BBC Radio 3's 'In-Tune'. 

In 2003 Anthony founded the Ulverston International Music Festival in his hometown in Cumbria with the aim of bringing internationally renowned artists – including Steve Isserlis, Tasmin Little, Natalie Clein, Chloe Hanslip, and Alina Ibragimova to name a few – to a rural part of England. As Artistic Director, part of Anthony’s role includes work in the community with local school children in workshops, family concerts, and master classes. 

Anthony joined the faculty at the Birmingham Conservatoire in September 2013 and is frequently invited to judge on competition juries. He is based in South West London and his hobbies include cycling into the countryside, and skiing and hiking in the Alps.

Dinara Klinton performs at Breinton on 15 November 2014.

Born on 6th July 1989 in Ukraine, Dinara started her piano lessons in the age of five. Since 1996 she was studying in Kharkov Special Secondary Music School and the first landmark on her way was the 1st prize of  Usty-nad-Laba competition in Czech Republic she won already in the age of eight, as well as 1st prize of prestigious V.Krainev International competition (Ukraine).

Then, in 2001 she moved to Moscow to study with V.Pyasetsky in Central Music School of Moscow State P.I.Tchaikovsky conservatory. In 2007  Dinara to Moscow State conservatory in the class of professor Eliso Virsaladze, has graduated with Diploma of Honors and currently supported by ABRSM scholarship and the Guzik Foundation for her studies  at the Royal College of Music in London with Dina Parakhina. 

In the period of 2003-2006 Dinara had become a laureate of numerous well-known competitions of young musicians, among them are: 1st prize of St.Seiler International piano competition, (Germany,2003); 2nd prize of P.I. Tchaikovsky International competition, (Japan,2004); 3rd prize of “Eurovision” (Switzerland, 2004); Grand-Prix of V. Krainev International piano competition, (Ukraine, 2006). 

Dinara is the winner of Diploma of Outstanding Merit of prestigious Hamamatsu International Piano competition (Japan, 2006). In 2007 Dinara had become 2nd prize winner of International F. Busoni competition (Bolzano, Italy)?and in 2009 she gets 2nd prize of Tbilisi International Piano Competition. In 2010 Dinara won Grand-Prix in International piano competition "Interlaken Classics" in Bern, Switzerland.

She has participated in such prestigious festivals as: “Rheingau Musikfestival” (Germany, 2002); International F. Chopin Festival (Poland,2003); International Piano festival “La Roque d’Antheron” (France,2004); Ravello Festival (Italy,2007).

Dinara has given concerts in numerous cities of Italy such as Bolzano, Rapallo, Asolo, Ravello, Trento, Bergamo, Roma (Parco della Musica), and also in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia, Israel, Denmark, Japan, Malaysia, USA, etc.

She has played with many orchestras including Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio, conductor Moshe Atzmon; “Virtuosi of Moscow”, conductor V. Spivakov; “Musica Viva”, conductor A.R?udin; RTV Slovenia orchestra, conductor En Shao; Kharkov philharmonic orchestra; Kiev philharmonic orchestra; Kazan philharmonic orchestra; chamber orchestra “Kremlin”; Pacific chamber orchestra, etc.

Dinara has recorded CD “Music of Chopin and Liszt” for the label “Delos”.

Joseph Moog performs at Breinton on 18 October 2014.

Joseph Moog is a two time Winner of the International Classical Music Awards ICMA. In 2012 he received the Award as “Young Artist of the Year, Joseph Moog crowned this achievement in 2014 having won the Award as “Solo Instrumentalist of the Year” ex-aequo with the celebrated pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja. Reviewers have been extolling the "Young Steinway Artist" "the most interesting interpreter of his generation" and are speaking of him as one of the "most remarkable phenomena in the current music scene". 

Joseph Moog captivates audiences with his mature artistic personality, his transcendental virtuosity, and his bold, unique program selections, which include his own compositions. 

Radio Bremen referred to him as a "treasure hunter with supernatural technical abilities" because, in addition to the customary piano repertoire, he uses his solo recitals to include highly virtuosic rarities from the "Golden Age" of artists such as Godowsky, Rubinstein, Moszkowski and Friedman. This young artist portrays stylistic authenticity, beautiful tonal nuance and a highly developed technical sensitivity combined with an enormous stage presence.
