Nicholas Yang, born in 2010, is a music scholar at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford. Taking up the piano at a young age, Nicholas’s passion for the instrument has grown over the intervening years and has recently gained a place at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music where he learns with Konstantin Lapshin. Nicholas is also a passionate cellist and currently taught by Robin Thompson-Clarke.
Amongst his recent accomplishments, he was a finalist in the International Scottish Youth Piano Competition 2025 and was a finalist in the Woking Musician of the Year Competition 2025.
He has participated in masterclasses given by Dmitri Alexeev, Shelagh Sutherland, Aaron Shorr, Fali Parvi and Sinae Lee.
Nicholas is currently working towards a performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3, which he will perform in May 2026, accompanied by Southern Pro Musica. He is also preparing several recital programs which he hopes to give later in the year.
He aspires to be a concert pianist in the future.
Aside from music, Nicholas enjoys running and cooking.
